What is Oud or Agarwood?

Oud, also known as Agarwood, is the precious ingredient of some of the most exclusive perfumes in the fragrance industry.

Derived from the resinous bark of a tree, it is one of the world’s rarest and most expensive commodities – more costly than gold.

The fragrance it releases has long been of huge cultural significance in the world where they are used as tokens of hospitality and welcome.

There are many different types of Oud, sourced from huge tropical trees found in the dense forests of the world, it takes around 300 years for Oud to form in the trunks of trees!  Today, the  demand for Oud and it’s Oil are greater than other varieties available on the market.

What is Bakhoor?

Bakhoor is the Arabic name given to wood chips, resins and natural oils which are then burned on charcoal and incense burners to create an ambiance in the home or used to perfume the clothing.   Bakhoor is used on special occasions or generally to perfume the house. The bakhoor is usually burned in a mabkhara, a traditional incense burner also known as Bakhoor Burner.

Method of burning Bakhoor:

Take a piece of coal and heat a corner of it with a small flame in incense burner or suitable metal dish. Wait for 2 minutes, then sprinkle a small amount of Bakhoor incense on to hot coal. Sit back as the beautiful fragrance fills the room.

Safety Precautions: Use Bakhoor in a well ventilated room, burning supplies should be kept away from small children and pets. During incense burning at very high temperatures, incense burners can become very hot. Please do not leave unattended while in use.
